Benefits
What can Job Order Contracting do for your organization? Done the Gordian way, each solution is different, hence, there are varying benefits from organization to organization depending on their goals and overall system scope. That being said, across the board, JOC can save you time, save you money, and help to improve the quality of work you receive.
JOC saves time: by completing the competitive bidding process up front, you can shift day-to-day focus on actually completing projects instead of repeating the bidding process over and over for each job. Put differently: projects can get rolling in a matter of days instead of a matter of months.
JOC saves money: it has been documented that JOC can save up to 15% in actual cost. How? JOC reduces the need for extensive design through the use of client specific technical specifications. Procurement costs decrease because that process is done once, up front. Change orders are all but eliminated because any changes are merely added to the overall scope of work directly from the price book. Finally, direct construction costs decrease overall because of volume discounts and reduced overhead on each individual project as contractors can spread things out over the entire course of the JOC contract.
JOC improves quality: our clients receive a fully customized solution that allows them to specify down to the line item the level of quality they require. Even better, those line items have localized costs associated with them, so the price for any given task is fixed along with the expectations of what is to be done. No project is closed out until the owner is satisfied.
