The Los Angeles Unified School District is the second largest public school system in the United States with over 720,000 students and 1,131 schools and other facilities to maintain. LAUSD also needed to execute four bond incentives in order to accomplish the maintenance and repair program and had been getting nowhere fast. Enter Gordian and our JOC Complete Solution.
The LAUSD program was originally a pilot program to see how Job Order Contracting could help California K-12 school districts, with an independent performance study mandated by the state legislature to boot. The result was nothing short of a home run and one of the fastest volume ramp-ups that we have ever seen at Gordian.
We like to let the results speak for themselves. When FMI conducted an independent performance study of LAUSD’s program, they found that JOC not only saved 9.2% in actual construction costs, but also helped to reduce the average procurement time on projects by 242 days.
