District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA)
Success in the Housing Authority world is not only defined by money saved and efficiencies gained, but also by how much they help the communities that each housing authority serves. DCHA has accomplished all this and more in the over 10 years that they have utilized Gordian solutions.
When the Gordian Group was awarded a contract in September, 1996, the first phase of the DCHA Job Order Contracting (JOC) program consisted of four Job Order Contracts. The focus of the DCHA JOC program is to reduce vacancy rates and accomplish larger modernization projects. The average project size for this program is approximately $200,000.
In recent years, DCHA has heavily utilized JOC to comply with the Americans with Disabilities (ADA)/Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards. In so doing, DCHA has successfully updated and renovated over 341 dwelling units. Additionally, JOC has helped DCHA to implement bond funded energy management programs. These programs concentrated on the installation of water savings faucets, showerheads and toilets; high efficiency HVAC equipment and water heaters; compact fluorescent bulb/fixtures, and energy efficient lighting ballasts.
